applicom®
Software solutions (SW1000ETH/SER) now released under Direct-Link™
range, on a separate cd-rom
The
applicom® 3.7product launch will coincide with the
rollout of a new Delta Commercial program for Woodhead Network
solutions, regrouping 3 products ranges : applicom®,
SST™ and Direct-Link™.
Previously, the applicom cd-rom contained 2 separate setups (1)
Hardware by using a smart card, and (2) Software by using a Generic
dumb card for Ethernet (SW1000ETH) or serial port (SW1000SER). From
applicom® 3.7, the cd-rom only contains Hardware setup.
The SW1000ETH/SER software solutions are now released on a separate
cd-rom called:
"Direct-Link™ PC Network Interface".
Information about the Direct-Link product range will be available
soon.

Universal PCI (PCI-X
compatible) Network Interface Cards now supported
Due
to evolution in computers technology, some new PCI slots hit the
ground on the
PC market. However, some computers do not support anymore the usual
PCI 5V slot, and intend to use 3.3V PCI slots with different bus
speed.
As a Global leader in Industrial Communication card, Woodhead Software
& Electronics quickly reacts, and is very proud to release new
"Universal PCI" card format to ensure the full compatibility
with such technology.
The first release will concern Ethernet TCP/IP 10/100 MHz, Profibus
1.5 & 12 Mb and Serial cards.
Based on this new hardware, see below the communication solutions
available:
From
a configuration point of view, the new universal PCI cards are FULLY
compatible with the previous PCI 5V cards.
Under Windows 32 bits platform, the applicom®
configuration software will automatically detect the new card as
before.

Protocol
q Ethernet/IP
Logix5000 messaging for Allen Bradley ControlLogix 5000 through OPC The
Ethernet/IP Logix5000 messaging allows a direct access to the
Logix5000 family through Ethernet. Moreover,
through an OPC connexion, the user uploads the tag database directly
from the ControlLogix processor in Online mode. Unlike other existing
solutions, as it is based on the applicom®PCI2000ETH
smart card, all communication treatment is processed by the card
itself and not by the PC processor, which allows a constant and
powerful data throughput into your application.
Protocol name
:
Ethernet/IP Logix5000
Network type
:
Ethernet TCP/IP 10/100 MHz
Access Modes
: Client and Server (through the database 32
kwords + 32 kbits)
Network Interface Card
: applicom® PCI2000ETH
(mini. PROM v 4.1.0)
Automatic Tag access
: Directly upload the tag database from
the ControlLogix processor through OPC.

:simple variables, structures or arrays.
Access to all predefined structure data types such as ALARM, AXIS,
CAM, etc.
Variables supported
:B, N, D, F, Timer, Counter
Items optimisation
: Tag, arrays and structures are
optimised in the ControlLogix frame transactions.
Gateway
:Supports ControlLogix Gateway
access via Data Highway Plus and ControlNet networks
APIs supported (all in the cd-rom)
:
OPC v1 & v2.05

ActiveX Control
Also available: PCCC Ethernet driver for
ControlLogix, A-B PLC-5 and SCL500
q Industrial
Ethernet messaging for Siemens S7-200 PLCs series
Already compatible with the Siemens Simatic® S7-300 and
S7-400 ranges, Woodhead adds more connectivity by supporting the
S7-200 PLCs series through Industrial Ethernet TCP/IP messaging
available on the new Siemens coupler (CP243-1).
The solution is based
on the applicom®PCI2000ETH
smart card, all communication treatment is processed by the card
itself and not by the PC processor, which allows a constant and
powerful data throughput into your application.

q Intel
and Motorola formats supported when using Server mode through Ethernet
TCP/IP
For
all Ethernet TCP/IP protocols in Server mode, The feature "Data

database in INTEL or MOTOROLA format.
q Profibus-FMS
and "S5 for S7" no more supported
From
applicom®
v3.7, the Profibus protocols "FMS" and "S5 for S7"
will be no more supported on PC1500PFB, PCI1500PFB,
and PCU1500PFB.
On request, Woodhead S&E may supply an applicom®
version 3.6 SP2 which will support the FMS and "S5 for S7".

q New
applicom®
OPC server features
The
applicom®
OPC server v3.7 has been redesigned for better performance. All the
protocols are concerned by these improvements. Main news are :
New synchronous and asynchronous requests mechanisms
:
Requests can now be splitted in several transactions able to be
executed simultaneously (poll of threads), improving significantly
performance for execution, in particular for read requests. In
addition, it improves particularly performance of system in case of
time-out problem with a device
New OPC diagnostic features for support improvement
:
The internal structure of the server can be exported in XML format.
A separate software tool used by a separate tool for display. This
XML file can so be sent to our Technical Support Center for a better
analysis.
Easier items browsing
:
By
default, the CARDx.CHANNELy.EQUIPMENTz paths are no more visible in
the browsing tree. However, these syntaxes are still accepted.
Documentation
q Help
files in a PDF format
To
be more efficient and easier to read and print, the product
documentation (in English or French) is now produced in PDF format.
The applicom ® 3.7 CDRom includes the latest version of
Acrobat Reader v6.0 (full version) in French, English, German, Spanish
and Italian.
